What our volunteers are saying…

“The thing I enjoy most about volunteering is seeing the growth of the kids each week in reading and writing, as well as the parents’ enthusiasm for assimilating to the US. To anyone interested in volunteering, I would say that this is a great experience, with an amazing community, filled with people who genuinely care about each others’ well being.”  - Omar

“Before starting at the RIC, I had never interacted with Muslims before. I had no idea how cool it would be! I want others to know we are all the same; we all have needs and a desire to learn new things, and the language barrier just doesn’t matter.” - Linda

“I help residents get their driver’s license by driving with them in their cars. Some, well, all, my friends think this unwise. But consider this: I get to work one on-one with motivated student drivers and use a quiet neighborhood for practice sessions and a clear goal… passing the driver’s license exam. This has been an opportunity for me to get acquainted with families who have sacrificed much to come here and are extremely grateful to be here.” - Frank

“Volunteering at the RIC is flexible – you can give as much or as little time as you like, but keep in mind that you’ll probably find yourself wanting to serve more and more!”  - Elise
