To Support. To Thank. To HEAL.
The eruption on the streets of the hurt, pain, and injustice that people of color have been experiencing has been powerful and humbling to witness. The Riverview International Center (RIC) supports the confrontation of the systemic racism that has affected and taken the lives of so many. We do not just stand by but believe that being anti-racist means action. It means more than words, it means living it out.
The RIC is centered on working toward equity for people newly arriving to America. We have and will continue to elevate the voices of the marginalized and prioritize their right to not just survive in the US, but to thrive.
At a time when we are also experiencing the pandemic, generosity of time and money and caring is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe.
The RIC wants to give gratitude for the abundance of generosity you have shown our International neighbors on Riverview Drive and beyond.
We’ve seen you show kindness through monetary donations- nearly $32,000 for gift cards and rent relief, helping more than 101 people who’ve lost jobs. You’ve picked up and sorted food from pantries, helped deliver diapers and gift cards, gathered used laptops and tablets for homeschooled students, and shared MANY kind words.
Ibram X. Kendi says “… someone challenging inequity by assisting an underrepresented racial group into relative wealth and power until equity is reached (is anti-racist)”.
Kendi’s quote has always been one of the values underlying the mission of the RIC through empowering individuals, supporting families, and nurturing community.
